Computer In For Repair
I’ve got a bit of an issue with my new Apple Powerbook G4. Seems that there’s a loose connection in the logic board or DC-in board inside the computer. So I’ve spent the day in the Seattle area Apple store and the computer will be sent out for a repair. I hope to have it back by Wednesday next week, so I am stuck here for a few days. Not sure if I can get repairs once I head north through British Columbia, the Yukon Territory and onto Alaska and the Last Frontier.

So don’t worry. I’m Okay in Seattle and until the computer is back, I’ll be light on the posting.

Greetings from the very hot northeast. In the 90’s yesterday and looks like a repeat today.
We spent 6 days in Martha’s Vineyard and had a great time. Off to Rhode Island tomorrow for a couple of days.
Glad to hear you are safe the posting are great and the pictures are wonderful.
Good luck and keep writing. Maybe you should have bought a DELL.
Love Ya, Dad says hi.

Dells suck. Don’t succumb to the dark side even if you run into ‘Darth’ Gates up thata way and he offers you lavish sponsorship. You might consider a kinder, gentler packing technique for the GBox.

Good to hear your doing well and only down due to the G4. The one I have “thanks to you” has been a real workhorse. Can’t wait to read more of your adventures.
I might be able to hook up with you for a day or two on the GS if you know what your route and plans are.
Adventure on!!

OK, why the PC bashing? My Dell laptop and G5 both live on my desk… bringing balance to the force.
Allan, the bright side of your computer woes is that we got to hook up (in Redmond!) and have a glass of wine! Thanks!
I really don’t think you should let a broke down lap top dictate your “onwardness”. Don’t you remember when we traveled through Southeast Asia back in ’86? There was no such thing as a laptop. You kept an analog journal (pen & paper) and that seemed to work just fine. C’mon Allan… get back on that bike and continue your WorldRide. Errr is there something else holding you in Seattle that your not telling us about?
Hi Allan
Great to hear that you are on the ” Road ” .
Awsome pictures on your website, remindes me of my trip to NZ last year, well just a short note to wish you well and keep those wheels rolling.
Speak to you soon mate

Totally agree with Johnny A on this one. A lemon Mactop is holding up this once in a lifetime excursion? Gimme a break dude. Go out, buy a nice Dell and get on the road. You can ship the lemon Mac to anyone for safe keeping.
hey hey now. thanks for the good words. but the laptop has not kept me from moving on my journey. only kept me from updating with more lively stories, exciting pictures and continuing to improve the website. The YUKON was amazing. If you ever get a chance to go to Kluane, do it. Most amazing place I’ve ever seen… so far!
Yes Emporer Jobs wants to keep you under the illusion that his monopoly isn’t as evil as the next guys.
I had the pleasure of meeting Allan today here in Circle, AK. It took about 10 seconds for me to realize he was lost. He saw a sign outside of Fairbanks that said Circle >. The road to the Arctic Circle & Prudhoe was straight ahead. He took his detour of 150 miles and wound up in my yard. I told him he wasn’t the first one to do it so don’t feel bad. He has a good sense of humor and I wished him the best. He started back after an hour, he’ll be one tired guy tonight. I made him feel better saying the road he wanted was better than the one he was on 😉 I’m looking forward to hearing some of his adventures!
